A young woman reports a group sexual assault next to a nightclub in Valencia

The National Police is investigating a group rape suffered by an 18-year-old girl in the Valencian neighborhood of Malvarrosa. The events occurred around five in the morning last Saturday next to a well-known nightclub and a few meters from a Civil Guard barracks.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, four young people participated in the sexual assault after she went with one of them to an open field. The girl went to the club that night with a friend, but she left the premises with a young man and they went to a lot used as a parking lot.

Shortly after, three other men arrived and sexually assaulted her after surrounding her. The victim was dazed because she had consumed alcohol, but she told police that she remembered the events and that she did not want to have sexual relations with the group.

The Family and Women Unit (UFAM) of the National Police of Valencia has taken charge of the investigations to identify and arrest the sexual offenders, who left in the car of one of them.

The victim went to the Office of Complaints and Attention to Women (ODAM) of the Supply police station of the National Police, but the case was taken over by the Family and Women Unit (UFAM), a unit specialized in the investigation of crimes. sexual.

According to the Levante-EMV newspaper, a witness located by the Police declared that at least two of those involved were carrying balloons in their hands, which is why investigators suspect that they could have consumed the so-called ‘laughing gas’, a cheap and popular drug among young people, but whose consumption can lead to serious consequences.

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) estimates that its non-medical use represents a health risk. Nitrous oxide carries associated risks of asphyxiation due to its nature as a compressed liquefied gas.

By functioning as a dissociative anesthetic, it can also cause hallucinations, uncontrolled vocalization, alterations in perception, spatial and temporal disorientation or reduce sensitivity to pain, according to the National Drug Plan.

For this reason, UFAM agents are investigating whether the group sexual assault occurred after a possible chemical submission of the victim, according to police sources.
