Madrid renews Rodrygo until 2028

Second contract renewal at Real Madrid in just 48 hours. After the extension of the link between the white club and Vinicius until 2027, announced on Tuesday, the Chamartín institution yesterday announced the continuity of Rodrygo until 2028. It thus ensures the stability of the Brazilian duo called to support the weight of the Madrid attack in the next years.

The São Paulo player, who is in his fifth season at Madrid, where he arrived in the summer of 2019, had a contract until 2025, but he extended it for three more seasons at a difficult personal moment in sports. At this start of the season, Rodrygo has lost that particular love affair with the goal that he demonstrated even as a newcomer. From the goal he scored against Athletic in San Mamés on the first day of the League, back in August, to the target against Sporting de Braga in the Champions League, almost two and a half months of fighting and disagreement with the opposing team passed. They even took away his title status for the benefit of Joselu.

However, in the Real Madrid offices, Rodrygo’s projection and his future potential beyond specific performance are valued. This is demonstrated by a decided commitment to a footballer considered a pillar, with whom the relationship is extended for the remainder of the season and another four more with a termination clause of 1,000 million euros. If his contract is fulfilled, he would reach the age of 27 in a club for which he signed when he was 18, in exchange for the 45 million euros that Madrid paid Santos for his transfer.
