The works councils of Renfe Operadora and Adif have agreed to call strikes in several meetings called this Tuesday as a result of the Government’s commitment to transfer the management of commuter trains to Catalonia. Extraordinary meetings have taken place in the two public companies after the investiture agreement between PSOE and ERC became known last week. The days scheduled for these 24-hour strikes in both companies are November 24 and 30 and December 1, 4 and 5, according to union sources.

UGT requires the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda to comply with a series of “non-negotiable premises” which are mainly summarized in the maintenance of the integrity of both the Railway Infrastructure Network (managed by Adif) and Renfe Operadora, At the same time, the rights of workers must be guaranteed, not only economic but also professional and mobility rights.

«We understand that although the approaches of the agreement (PSOE-ERC) are not in identical terms for Adif and for Renfe Operadora, this does not prevent us from expressing our opposition to the proposed measure and demanding a firm commitment that provides guarantees for the groups that “We represent both companies on the same terms,” says the UGT statement.
