The Treasury plans to return 167 million euros in Cantabria

The Tax Agency plans to return a total of 167 million euros in Cantabria in the 2023 Income Campaign, which is 1.8% less than in the previous year. On the other hand, it will earn 8.2% more, up to 189 million.

As explained by the Agency in a press release, the Treasury expects that in 2024 317,369 declarations will be made in Cantabria, which is 1.4% more than the previous year. Almost two thirds of them –206,215– will be repaid (-2.3%), while nearly a third –93,882– must be paid to the Treasury (+9.9%). The remaining 17,272 are included in other types (+4.1%).

The statement was launched coinciding with the opening day of the deadline to confirm or modify and submit online the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) declaration corresponding to the year 2023, a campaign that will run until July 1, 2024, one day longer than usual, since June 30 falls on a Sunday this year.

As TaxDown tax experts explain, Cantabrian taxpayers will not have any new deductions in this campaign, so the 14 that were already applied in 2023 will be maintained. One of them is the aid for those under 35 , people over 65 or people with disabilities who live rented with a lease contract with a deduction limit of 10%. Those related to housing, the deduction for works on the habitual residence or rental contracts for homes located in areas of Cantabria with demographic challenges are also maintained.

Likewise, single-parent Cantabrian families where there is only one adult responsible for the care and upbringing of the children can benefit from an advantage to deduct 200 euros from this year’s income. And, for their part, all those people who have had a child born or adopted during the year of this fiscal year will be able to benefit from 100 euros for each child born or adopted.

In relation to the Wealth Tax (IP) declarations, the Treasury forecast is to deposit 24 million euros in Cantabria (compared to 21 million the previous year), which translates into an increase of 12.2%. The total number of declarations increased by 3.4% and reached 3,098.

In the country as a whole, the Tax Agency expects to receive a total of 18,908 million euros, which means 12.2% more than the previous year, while the amount to be returned to taxpayers will be 1.8% lower. with 11,650 million.

It is expected that in this personal income tax campaign a total of 23,281,000 returns will be submitted, 1.2% more than the previous year. Of this total, it is expected that almost 63% (14,614,000) will be entitled to a refund for an estimated amount of 11,650 million euros. For its part, it is estimated that taxpayers who have declarations to enter will be close to 7,092,000, 10.2% more, for an amount of 18,908 million. Like every year, these contributors will not make their first payments until the end of the campaign.

Thus, the net balance of this campaign will be positive, of around 7,258 million, compared to the 4,987 million of the previous year, 2,271 million more, according to the information presented at a press conference by the general director of the Tax Agency, Soledad Fernández.

Regarding the taxation modality, a total of 19,993,079 individual declarations are expected, 1.6% more than last year, while 3,288,287 joint declarations are expected, which represents a decrease of 1.2%. compared to the previous year.
